It was later that night, about 2 hours after Remi and I had experienced our last ride here. The trailer had arrived to take her to her new home, where I hoped we would both be happy so the rest of my horses could join us. All of my stuff, my tack, everything, except for my other horses' halters was in the trailer and ready to go. Now all we needed was Remi. I entered the barn, but as I got closer to her stall I sensed something was wrong. I called out Remi's name. She didn't appear at her door as usual. Her door was locked, including the bottom lock. I looked in the stall, she wasn't there. Panicking, I ran outside, I checked all the paddocks. No Remi. All my other horses were in their stalls, so why wasn't Remi! I looked down. [glow=red,2,300]Hoofprints.[/glow] I followed them into the woods, but there was no path. I called desperatly for her, she was so special to me. I couldn't live without her. REMI!!!!! Then, a whinny, nicker, oh could it be! Then there she was, standing next to a fallen log. I called her. She tried to come to me but she got pulled back. Someone had put on her sheet, and it was caught on the log. I walked over carefully, sweat was evident on her neck. I spoke calmly and evenly, and slowly her muscles relaxed and her ears tipped into a calm position. I slipped the halter I had grabbed on and worked on getting her un-stuck. One more pull...... YES! She was out! I then walked her slowly out of the woods into the barn, she was a jittery mess! I checked her over, nothing appeared to be wrong. I walked and trotted her up and down the driveway, NO LIMP! She was fine, and was now quite relaxed. I didn't want to transport her tonight, but I could only afford this one time, and she didn't mind a short ride on the trailer anyway, so I loaded her up and set her hay-net. I left the trailer and buckled the back. I felt guilty about making her go tonight after her little experience, even though it wasn't bad, she just gets so easily worked up, even when things end up okay. I can't afford to do it any other night though so I must. The ride isn't too long, and it is my now ex-trainer/barn owner's nice trailer I was borrowing so it would be okay. I got into the passenger seat of the pick-up next to my old barn manager and we set off down the dirt driveway. This time I didn't look back.
